Superior Thread's King Tut is this week's focus for Thursday Thread. King Tut is a 3 ply, 40wt cotton thread. Superior recommends a Topstitch 90/14 needle on domestic machines and 110/18 or 120/19 needle on a higher speed longarm. The first time or two that I used it, I wasn't very happy. I found that I got a fair bit of lint, but I don't use it in the bobbin anymore and find the lint is a lot less. This thread color is #403, English Ivy. The variegation is very subtle from
WonderFil's Mirage thread is a random dyed 30wt variegated Rayon thread. Lovely colors. This is a blue-yellow variegated thread. The perfect color combination for this quilt. I've had this lovely huge Lone Star quilt pieced for a long time, but couldn't find a yellow/blue thread to match. I was teaching a WonderFil Threaducation class a few years ago and a student was playing with a thread and stitching a simple satin stitch. "PERFECT"!!!! For this project I'm using SD39.
