Thornhill Patch
In this introduction to quilting we are going to focus on accurate cutting, sewing, pressing and borders. This class has been designed for beginners as well as more intermediate quilters who want to improve their piecing skills. We've chosen a simple 9 patch block for the quilt. We'll teach you how to measure and sew borders for a perfectly flat quilt.

BINDING YOUR QUILT & HANGING IT TOO!
Let’s explore the many ways we can finish our quilts! We’ll start with some basics of preparing our quilted sandwich and move on to 4 different ways we can add that fabric binding to the edge. We’ll also spend some time looking at and stitching a few methods of creating hanging sleeves so we can display our workmanship!
Basic machine stitch to the front and hand sew to the back with mitered corners and invisible join.
Machine stitch to one side of the quilt and machine stitch to the other using the feet we have for our machines and a selection of stitches.
Faux Piped Binding using 2 fabrics for a great finish.
Facing tips and tricks. We’ll create a facing and finish the quilt with no visible binding. Great for art quilts.
Tube hanging sleeves – the basic and simple way
Alternate ways to hang quilts – well explore a few different ways.

GOING LIVE
Have you ever come across a quilt pattern that you just had to make? I was asked to quilt Nancy's (from Bow Bench) and was intrigued with the piecing. Once she told me it was a log cabin I was hooked. I ordered the pattern and was surprised that there were so many options available in the pattern.
In this class we'll focus on planning the quilt (first session) and choosing our fabrics and then (second session) we'll start cutting and sewing. I have a few tricks to share with you to make this project a quick and simple sew.
