Spend the morning learning the basics of 5 shapes that make up all FMQ designs and the foundation for all future FMQ. We’ll cover the basic mechanics of FMQ, and how to stitch the 5 basic shapes. We’ll then take what we’ve learned and put these shapes together into a variety of unique quilting motifs.

FREE MOTION QUILTING - BASICS
Learn the basics of the 5 shapes that make up all Free Motion Quilting designs and the foundation for all future Free Motion Quilitng. Learn how to set up your machine, the basic mechanics of Free Motion Qulting and how to stitch the 5 basic shapes. This class is ideal for those who have never tried FMQ before, but is also a valuable refresher for those with some experience.

FREE MOTION QUILTING - NEXT STEPS
We’ll be looking at lots of samples and pages of drawn designs. Students will practice drawing and stitching the designs. Free Motion quilting becomes easier with more practice, so we’ll have lots of time for that.
FREE MOTION QUILTING - BOUNCE BACK FEATHERS
Free Motion Quilitng Feathers are beautiful and not as difficult as many people think they are. In this class we'll focus on the style of feathers that a lot refer to as Longarm Feathers, but we can do them on our stationary machines. We'll play withy the shape and the size and add a variety of design elements.
FREE MOTION QUILTING - BASIC FEATHER

This is a “let’s get started” class, focused of those who have not done any Free Motion Quilting before. We’ll start the day discussing the fabric layers and seƫting up the machine. We’ll learn and draw the 5 basic shapes and practice stitching each in turn. We’ll be exploring how to use these shapes in sashings and borders as well as for all over fill designs.
FREE MOTION QUILTING - FLOWERS AND LEAVES
Learn how to use the 5 basic shapes to create a vareity of flower and leaf motifs. Students will learn how easy it is to make one little change for a whole new look. Who knew there were so many flowers and leaves!

Free Moton Quilting on a domestic machine or long arm machine uses the same basic 5-6 shapes. The trick is to learn to recognize these shapes and how they are put together to create quilting motifs.
