HQ class 1C - GETTING STARTED WITH LONGARM QUILTING
Managing Quilts on a Frame

Whether you have a longarm quilting machine or you are interested in starting to quilt with a longarm machine, this is a good foundation class.  I guarantee you will learn something in this 3 hour in-person class.  Check the class outline

  • preparing your fabric layers for longarm quilting

  • loading your quilt on a frame (there are 3 ways and we'll cover them all)

  • Advancing your quilt and keeping the top straight

  • Tips for preventing puckers and wrinkles

  • Dealing with extra fabric in the quilt top (borders and poorly sewn blocks)

Free Motion Quilting - The Five Basics

This class is for everyone and covers all the basics of creating the five basic shapes that make up all free motion quilting designs. You'll start to recognize these shapes and how they are used in various quilting motifs.  In this in-person class, we'll cover

  • exploration of each of the Five Basic shapes

  • we'll do lots of drawing

  • you will do lots of stitching on one of my longarm machines or available stationary machines.

Do you love rulers? But are you still looking for new ways to use them? In this class, we’ll focus on building an inventory of design ideas using the HQ VersaTool and other HQ rulers. Point to point quilting using markings already on your quilt – like seams or corners – is a cinch with rulers. We’ll start with ruler basics, then move on to creating beautiful designs for your entire quilt.
