Join a great bunch of young sewers and create a truly one of a kind stitched project.
Day 1 am: we'll dye Fat Quarters of Fabric and learn a little bit of colour theory. The dye powders will be pre-mixed but will dye anything natural. Please make sure your child/ren wear clothes that can be splattered with dye. The Children will bring the dyed fabrics home to be washed and dried for day 2. They will be given rinsing instructions.
Day 1 pm: after lunch, we'll learn how to use sewing machines and start on a little journal cover. If your child has a sewing machine, they are welcome to bring it. Bow Bench Retreat has a number of machines available for student use. All supplies are included although scissors and pins would be a great help.
Day 2 and 3: we'll work with the dyed fabrics to make either a lap top (tablet/Ipad) case or a messenger bag. The children will learn how to make their own patterns, cut the fabric and use decorative stitches on their machines to create the bags and case.
Ff there is any time remaining, Allison will have some simple projects to work on.
