Weekend Shout Out!

It's a morning in front of the computer writing blog posts and doing some other "paper work". Then I am off to Pinheads Quilting Company for an afternoon of Free Motion Quilting. In the Studio I have a bundle of Charity quilts that I want to work on in the next week. I can slip these in between your rentals and other customer quilts. I've cleaned up a bit and now need to find some permanent homes for my rolls of batting. They are still full roles (brand new) and take up a lot of room. I've been researching storage ideas on Pinterest and think I may have found a method I can use successfully in my space. The batting is available for purchase for quilting services and rentals My Handi Quilter

Challenge 2017/18 - #61, 61 & 63 Stained Glass Quilts

I love Stained Glass Quilts. It started stitching these many, many years ago. My parents moved into a house where the kitchen window (18" wide and 5 feet high) looked down over their neighbour's front entry way. Mum and Dad wanted some privacy, so Dad took a class and designed and built a piece of stained glass to fill that window. Love it! He has since re-created the window into 4 panels for the upstairs hall windows of my daughter's house. I stitched my first Stained glass quilt as a black web method. You know! Trace the leading design on to the paper side of freezer paper. Cut away everything leaving a 1/4-1/8" seam allowance and then turn that under, glue it down and stitch into pla

Challenge 2017/18 - #60 Hand Dyed Log Cabin

I was posting the Celtic Knot quilt and realized that I had missed a number in my listing. So I am now at 60 rather than at 61 as I thought. I may end up short of my Challenge to complete 52 + 12 quilted projects in 2017-18. Oh, Well. Let's see how far I get today. Today's share is a very long time finishing. It is a Hand Dyed Log Cabin quilt. It is only 33" x 28.5". Way, way back (many decades ago) there was a great, fantastic Creative Stitches festival in Calgary. The show has changed a lot over the years, but this particular year I went, I took a fabric dyeing classes with Dixon Chan from G&S Dye. We dyed little pieces of fabrics in clear plastic drinking glasses and took them home to

Challenge 2017/18 - #59 Celtic Knot

I am so close to finishing my Challenge to finish 52 quilted projects in 2017 and 12 more in 2018. I am going to get these post written and shared as quickly as possible so that I can close this exciting adventure and move on to something even more challenging!!!! Today I am sharing a finished quilt that I started more than 10 years ago! This is a Celtic Knot. It was part of a class that we offered at Needleworks in the early 2000's. I didn't teach the class and I can't find any documentation for it any more. I do know that at the time we offered the class, the original designer of the quilt pattern had recently died and her family were not able to produce or sell any more patterns. This p
