It's a Quilty Week

I'm up bright and early on a Monday morning......WAIT, WAIT....It's Tuesday!!!!!

I'm up bright and early on a Tuesday morning and have a full list of activities on my schedule for the week.

This afternoon I'll be attending the Calgary Longarm Quilt Group meeting. We meet on a monthly basis and discuss and share ideas about using longarm machines. Thursday morning I'll be attending the Professional group meeting....those of us who "quilt for hire". There we discuss and share ideas about having a business and all that entails. If you have a longarm machine and want to join these groups, give me a shout and I can share the details with you.

You are invited to join me at my studio on Wednesday evening (tomorrow) 6-10pm for a sew night. I usually meet with a few quilty friends a couple of times each month to sew. Our rules are simple.

• We let each other know if we are not going to show up.

• We drink tea/coffee if we can get my hubby to make it for us....sometimes he even makes us snacks.

• We unpack our sewing machines and get all our fabrics and supplies out of our bags

• We chat and visit.

• Sometimes!!!! We even sew!

Thursday evening is a class I'm calling Thornhill Patch. We're starting at 6:30pm for 3 hours. We are making a lap size quilt using the Disappearing 9 Patch block. But we will be focusing on proper use of rotary cutting tools, accurate sewing and the correct method of pressing.

The 2nd class will be in 2 weeks and then we'll focus on measuring, cutting and sewing 3 borders on the quilt. I am passionate about these techniques as I find that each of these little steps can make a really big difference in the finished results in our quilts.

On Friday l"ll be out at Bow Bench Retreat for an all day Free Motion Quilting class. I believe this date is full and Nancy will take your information if you are interested in the next scheduled class.
