2026 A Year of Quilts by Studio 180 Design - August

We are in the last few days of August 2026 and I am already feeling the fall air, especially in the mornings. It will soon be time to think about the end of the year and planning for next year but for now ... I've completed the Wedge Star blocks for the 2026 Calendar challenge.
For our August block, I am working with the Wedge Star tool. There are now 2 tools that make a large number of block sizes. The larger tool makes 22 different sizes from 3" to 24" blocks. The brand new Pint Size Wedge Star tool makes 11 different sizes from 2" to 12".
The little blocks I am working on are 3" square. I could make them 2", but thought that would be a little too small. I combined the Wedge Star blocks with alternating Rapid Fire Lemoyne Star blocks from July.

I'm enjoying the process of working with the various tools and patterns. Patterns are available from your local quilt shops and also as PDF downloads directly from Studio 180 Design. Here is the pattern that uses the Wedge Star tool that is highlighted in the 2026 Calendar.
Here is a closeup of a quilt I made that only uses the Wedge Triangle units instead of the diamonds. A very interesting and straight forward quilt to make.
The Full Spectrum quilt was one of the first quilts I pieced after I became a Certified Instructor with Deb Tucker's Studio 180 Design tools. I was a great learning experience.
What makes Studio 180 Design tools different
