Weekend Shout Out!

Good Weekend everyone! I hope you have had a more successful Saturday than me! I woke at 2am this morning and knew I wouldn't get back to sleep. So after trying to read and then finally getting up about 3:30am, I curled up on the couch and started watching YouTube Videos on my phone. Duh! I was sitting in the living room and the TV was right in front of me! So, I accessed YouTube and spend a few hours watching some quilting videos. Here is one I really liked!

It's Bethanne Nemesh and some longarm quilting inspiration!

In the Studio

AMY-JOY (Handi Quilter Amara) and I had a great week! We quilted an antique quilt for a customer. I'll share pictures when the customer has her quilt back. It's not fair to share when she hasn't seen it yet!. I'm not sure of the story, but the quilt is made up of 12 very old Dresden Plate blocks. The blocks had been "sort of" hand quilted in a quilt as you go fashion. A friend added some lovely sashing and borders and I was asked to quilt the whole thing! I was also tasked with keeping the quilting simple, so chose some large scale feathers in sashing and borders and simple straight line ruler work in the blocks. I had a blast! AND I am happy to report that AMY-JOY is working beautifully!

Calendar

Tomorrow, Sunday is our 2nd class in the Free Motion Quilting series at Pinheads Quilting in Airdrie. We are focusing on the NEXT STEPS and how to take the 5 basic shapes of Free Motion Quilting and create some fantastic designs! The 3rd class is all about FLOWERS AND LEAVES and the final class is FEATHERS!!!!

We had a LONE STAR class booked for Thursday evenings, but those interested were not able to make the 2 evenings. We are re-scheduling to Saturday, December 8 as an all day class. I am going to have to pull out some Christmasy fabrics for my class demo! Contact Cathy or Lori at Pinheads Quilting if you are interested in this class. It's super easy!!!!!

Have I mentioned before that I LOVE teaching Kids to sew? Yep! I really do! I am excited that I get to teach some fantastic young sewers the basics of sewing and creating. I am teaching this year in Airdrie at Pinheads Quilting and in Calgary at My Sewing Room. The girls in my class at My Sewing Room finished their Tote Bags this week. They now have something to carry all their sewing supplies to class.

New sessions start right away. Call the stores for more details.

My Sewing Room is also offering some "pop-up" classes for kids. We'll work on some Christmas gift projects. Tuesday, November 27, or December 11.

Longarm Social Club: I'm leading a longarm club on the 2nd Tuesday evening of the month (November 13, January 8 and February 5) at My Sewing Room. At the Club meetings we are looking at a variety of techniques and tips for using longarm machines. We are not focusing on any specific machine, just trying to generalize on longarms. Join us for a single meeting to check out what we do and bring show and tell and questions!!!!

Pro-Stitcher Social Club: These meetings are held on the 4th Tuesday of the month (November 27, January 29-not the 4th Tuesday, but I will be away!, February 26) at My Sewing Room. In these club meetings we focus on using the Handi Quilter Pro-Stitcher Premium software. Lots of tips, tricks and answers to your questions. Don't have the program yet? Feel free to join us to see what this powerful program can do for you and your quilting!

On the Road

The Studio will be open most days for the coming week or sew. I'll be away for a long weekend in mid November and again for a week at the end of the month and beginning of December. Bring me your quilts and I'll get them done for Christmas or you can rent my machine and quilt your quilt yourself!

'll be at Fun with Stitches in Belleville Ontario November 15-17 for a fun Handi Quilter Event!

Have a great week sewing and quilting.
