Scrap Challenge 2019-20

I've slowly been re-arranging in preparation for the painter to come in and freshen up the studio. I've found lots of scraps, and I mean LOTS OF FABRIC SCRAPS leftover from projects that I've been working on in the past year or so. I know I've got large plastic tubs put away with more stuff that I need to use as well

AND

I've been buying lots of fabric lately and although most have been for specific projects, I have a very healthy stash with no real plan.

SO

I'm challenging myself in the next year and a half.

TO NOT BUY ANY FABRIC!!!!

I really do mean to not buy any fabric (unless I desperately need it!)

Here are the rules I've set for myself.

  1. Use up fabric I have in my stash and not purchase any more until October 1, 2020.

  2. make scrappy quilts

  3. choose a different piecing technique, block pattern or quilt design for each month.

  4. use all scraps as small as I possibly can

  5. complete at least 1 quilt each month (includes top finished, binding cut and prepped and backing ready). I'm not focusing on the quilting part yet, just the piecing.

  6. quilt sizes to be generous lap size quilts (50 x 70")

  7. track my accomplishments by recording the calculated amount of fabric used for each quilt

  8. report each month on my progress

Want to join me?

Just before the beginning of each month, I'm going to post a piecing technique that I plan to use for the coming month. I'm thinking HST, Flying Geese, Specific rulers, other ideas as I come across them. I'm going to piece at least 1 quilt top each month using my chosen technique and share my progress as well as resources and patterns I find with you.

Share pictures of your finished quilt tops!
