a summer full of fun and creative days!

I've just updated the website with information about some creative camps I've scheduled for the summer. Check them out!

These classes have been designed for young sewers (starting in grade 1). Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

KidSew Creative Camp at Bow Bench Retreat. I often teach out at Bow Bench and love the facilities Nancy has for classes. Her space is so bright and she has all the tools available for us to use. If you have never been out there, it's worth a drive to see her space but to also see her spectacular view!

At the KidSew Creative Camp we are going to start by hand dyeing Fat Quarters of fabric and then turning them into either a messenger bag or a laptop/Ipad case. The students will work on similar skills. We'll provide everything. Parents are welcome to come and listen in on the first 20 minutes so everyone has a clear understanding of what we'll be doing. Bring a lunch.

Kids Are Sewing Camps at My Sewing Room. I've scheduled 3 different camps at My Sewing Room this summer.

Choose Your Own Adventure Bag Camp: In this camp we'll make some design choices before we start; the size of the bag, the type of straps, a flap or not, closures and embellishments! No two bags will be the same!

Quilt Camp: Start right away by sewing squares together into blocks. This scrappy quilt will sew together quickly and students will learn how to sew accurately, press correctly and how to layer, quilt and bind their own quilt!

Sew Camp: Choose a project (within skill level) and work on it to completion. Suggested projects include short or pants, t-shirt or sweatshirt, pillowcase or decorative pillow. Students may also choose to work on the Quilt Camp or Bag Camp.

It's been a fun spring to plan these camps and activities. I've missed teaching these eager young sewers. Last year I taught out at Pinheads Quilting in Airdrie and at My Sewing Room in Calgary.
